Look Beyond The Stereotypes

Look Beyond The Stereotypes:

Howdy friends,

Listen up!

I am not the same man I was thirty years ago.

I have changed.

I have grown.

Much of my background can be remarkably intriguing when seen through spiritual lenses.

In many ways my heritage influenced the way I behaved.

Sadly though, there was an attitude of mind to express a negative opinion of individuals who did things differently to me.

Yes, I have been there!

I hold my hands up to having inadvertently adopted this kind of attitude.

There was a period of time when my inner thoughts were not only harsh but often disparaging.

My generalisation of things was not very encouraging, approving or pleasing.

I painted in broad strokes across a small canvas.

I was clueless.

In absence of a kind and considerate regard for others.

I failed to see the bigger picture!

I was inexperienced.

I had a narrow outlook on life.

Still, I am now willing to concede that we are not all the same.

Not everyone fits our presuppositions.

But with all the comparing, grading and competing we can miss the point.

Gradually, after a rethink, I began to put things into perspective.

I realised that in everything we should treat people the same way we want them to treat ourselves.

It is so easy to group individuals together and form an opinion about them without knowing them.

So easy to assign individuals to a class or kind.

So easy to show unfair treatment of a person on the basis of something determined before hand.

Instead, we should guard ourselves against those commonly known public beliefs about certain types of individuals.

In this present day we need to learn to tell apart those statements which are true and those opinions that are false.

If we shove people into simplistic categories we exclude spontaneity, originality and individuality.

We prevent individuals from being included, considered and accepted.

This can be hurtful as well as wrong.

Driving away those who do not reach the measure set by our own standards.

Come on friends!

Do not cut off the hope of any person!

It is never too late to demonstrate some compassion.

Just as our loving heavenly Father is compassionate towards us.

Let us look beyond the stereotypes.

It is time to see people through the eyes of Father.

We must work together for the general good.

Let us start right now by opening our hands to accept whoever our loving Father sends our way.

Hey!

I will never write something that I am not prepared to do myself.

So may we actively cause this to happen.

And let us go beyond the seemingly obvious.

Love like God loves.

Say yes!
