December 2009.

Christmas Blessings.

As we draw closer to the moment when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, we hope that you and all our friends will have a very enjoyable Christmas - and a New Year filled with big blessings.

David & Rachel.

Good News Ahead.

November 2009.

Over the last year we have experienced some unforgettable events, including a couple of changes, as we have moved our spiritual home.

Many of you will know we are now based at Hemsworth Christian Fellowship in West Yorkshire.

We’ve been there since March, and are enjoying every minute.

Yep, that’s right! Every minute!

The fellowship is linked in with Partners In Harvest and also has connections with the Ground Level Network.

We are very excited by what God is already doing and is about to do in the lives of the folks here.

Indeed; we have been really blessed to join the fellowship at a time when the new pastors, Ollie & Jenny took office - and we are looking forward to seeing their progress.

It is a real joy to share with these folks - to love them, support them, and always to think the best of them.

Our ministry, Newday-Prince International, is also going from strength to strength.

We are always aware of the great potential of the Internet, and are delighted with the response we receive from visitors to our web pages.

Having the opportunity to share our story live is also a very important part of our lives.

This year, we were especially blessed to minister in Selston and Kettering. Both events were real good, and we believe God spoke to many folks.

Furthermore; we were particularly thrilled when we were asked to share in ministry alongside Barry Woodward at the Valley Pentecostal Church in Stocksbridge.

That evening I shared in music and song, and Barry shared his story “Once An Addict,” the fascinating true story of one man’s escape from the murky drugs underworld.

You really must read his book!

Another highlight this year happened when the pastoral team in Hemsworth invited me to share the Newday-Prince story.

In retrospect; as I shared in music and song with our testimony interlinked, I was overcome with emotion, thankful for the opportunity to talk to our new friends about God’s story in our lives.

And, on that morning we believe many folks were encouraged and blessed.

Carrying on with the highlights of 2009; we were really excited when we had a rather unusual opportunity to share the Newday-Prince story live on United Christian Broadcasters, UCB Radio.

It happened early one morning, just before the 8 o’clock news.

Once again; the responses we received from folks who heard the interview with Luke Weston were so amazing, and we continue to give thanks to God for every opportunity.

Health wise, this year, things haven’t been so good for us though.

Many of you may recall that Rachel had micro-disectomy surgery in January, and although the operation was successful, the recovery has turned-out to be quite a journey.

Adding to the stress of things, I too had a turbulent year with re-occurring water infections - and at one stage was having to visit my consultant every month!

Mentally; I wasn’t at my best, and most of Spring-time became a blur to me.

The stress of “things” also got to Rachel. Not only did her doctor reckon she was on the verge of a heart attack or stroke, but later, much later, she was also diagnosed as suffering with Temporomandibular Joint Disorder.

Today, as I write this E-newsletter, Rachel is still receiving ongoing treatment, and I’m continuing to have the re-occurring water infections - and consequently having to endure another course of antibiotics!!

As you can imagine, we would really value your prayers here.

Our health hasn’t prevented us doing other things though, in fact we’ve been quite busy.

Perhaps for Rachel, the most exciting thing that has happened in our home recently, is that we’ve finally gotten around to having fitted wardrobes in two of our bedrooms, and laminated floors too!

This, plus the loft bordered out with hand-rail and steps adds to the excitement!

In addition; our dining area and kitchen floor is in the process of being aquablocked, and a French window installed!

You know friends; God misses nothing when it comes to knowing what pleases His children.

We’ve been especially blessed with a brilliant carpenter, and a painter.

Anyhow; with Christmas and the New Year just around the corner, we would like to take this opportunity to pray God’s biggest blessings for all of our friends.

Reflecting on some words from 2 Thessalonians 1: we pray: By His power, may God fulfil every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.

Big blessings,

David & Rachel.

October 2009.

Once again this last month has whizzed by, and once again we’ve been so encouraged with what God is doing in and through our lives.

Okay; this month our health hasn’t been too grand. But hey folks, even in our weakness, God is strong!

Anyway; it’s been a particular blessing this month to note how so many folks are encouraged by the ministry of Newday-Prince International, and a real encouragement to know that so many lives are touched by various comments and remarks left on Facebook.

Yes, Facebook, can you believe it!?

We believe in taking hold of every opportunity!

It’s been amazing how a scripture, a quote or thought-provoking comment can really be an up-lifter for someone’s day.

We are especially encouraged when folks go out of their way to take time-out to drop us a line to share how they’ve been blessed.

As I’m writing this update, I’m reminded of a moment when God spoke to me. It was very much like a whisper into my spirit - straight from the heart of God.

Gently; along came the God of hope saying, “I still have a plan for you. It’s not over till I say so. I’m going to turn things around for you. Your best days are ahead.”

Well folks, things have turned around.

Who said our pastoral days are over, eh!

Through the ministry of Newday-Prince International, our involvement with Echurch-UK - [a support on-line network - mainly for blind and partially sighted people,] the links we have through our social networks and the folks we connect with day by day - we’re simply amazed with the opportunities we have to share - encourage and pray.

So folks, please continue to pray for us as we continue to reach out to others with the love of Jesus.

Knowing that you are praying for us is a real encouragement.

Thank you all.

September 2009.

This past month has been very eventful for us, and made especially memorable by an interview with Luke Weston from United Christian Broadcasters.

It all began when we entered a competition on UCB Inspirational.

The competition question was something like this:-

According to a Boston University, research shows if you eat this particular food every day for breakfast, you’ll have a 30% less chance of catching flu. What’s the food you must eat?

Well folks; after some suggestions by others, we discovered that neither grapefruit, kiwi-fruit, raw egg nor kippers were the correct answer.

Indeed, we had thought it may be porridge, another cereal, or even vegemite!

But after further consideration, and bearing in mind the research came from a Boston University, we opted for Peanut-butter on toast.

If we’d been a little more clever, we should have said it was peanut-butter on Boston toast. However; the answer was actually “peanut-butter” - and guess what, yep, we won the prize - a compact-disc by “Jars of Clay” and another by “Tenth Avenue North.”

Anyhow; Luke requested that we forwarded to him via Email our home address, and in doing so, we also included a link to the Newday-Prince web pages.

A little while later, Luke contacted us for an interview.

To cut the story short; I was given 90 seconds to prepare myself for an interview about the Newday-Prince story.

The interview lasted around 2-3 minutes - leading up to the breakfast news - just before 8 o’clock.

In retrospect; throughout the fifteen years that I’ve been sharing the story, I don’t think I’ve ever been given so little time to share - but somehow, I managed to condense about 16 years of the story into a few minutes.

Amazing!

In any case; we always believe in taking hold of every opportunity, and we were particularly blessed when we had some positive feed-back - not only from the radio presenter, but also from some listeners in England and Northern Ireland.

Praise Him!

The events of the past month don’t end there though.

Two weekends ago; not only did we enjoy the celebrations on Rachel’s brother’s wedding day - but we also had the opportunity to once again share the Newday-Prince story.

This time with some wonderful folks at the Gateway Community Church in Kettering.

A great time was had by all, and we’ve even been invited back, wow!

We were also encouraged and blessed this past weekend; when the folks in Hemsworth Christian Fellowship invited us to share the Newday-Prince story.

I began with a couple of songs, one being the old time children’s hymn “Jesus Loves me this I know.”

I don’t think the folks were quite expecting a jazz style version of the song though, but it went down really well.

One could almost envisage the folks Swing Dancing, doing the Boogie-Woogie or Jive!

As I began to share the Newday-Prince story; I reflected for a while upon a moment in history - when Chairman Mao, the leader of the communist party in China attempted to crush the church. At this point in time things seemed to offer little or no hope!

However; in 1972, a message leaked out from the under-ground Church which simply stated: “The this I know people are well.”

Obviously; the Communist authorities did not understand the message - they hadn’t a clue!

But the rest of the Church worldwide knew at once.

Yep, that’s right! We all realised this was making reference to the world’s most famous children’s hymn - “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”

In a miraculous way, the Chinese Church, instead of being made ineffective, boomed and grew stronger under persecution, growing from 1.5 million believers to between 70-80 million by 1993!

[In fact; according to one source in 2008, a former Communist Party official who converted to Christianity, reckons there are up to 130 million Christians in China.]

Now, that’s utterly astounding!!

Incredible!

Anyhow; as I progressed through the Newday-Prince story; the quotation “It never rains but it pours” would echo through the episodes - concluding with a positive statement: “Let nothing and let no-one rob you of your joy. Why? Because the joy of the Lord is your strength!”

Today folks; we pray that the Newday-Prince story will encourage, challenge, and inspire everyone - who may be facing difficulties in life - to reach out and press on with the God given purposes of life.

Remain strong!

August 2009.

Over the last four years we’ve been delighted with the interest shown in the Newday-Prince web pages, and continue to be blessed by the many folks who have contacted us to let us know how our ministry is blessing them.

From Rio, Brazil to Sydney, Australia, and from Ulricehamn, Sweden to Opuwo, Namibia - the Newday-Prince story seems to be reaching folks far and wide.

So many, too many to learn by heart - but all including Jean in Canada, Les in New Zealand, Jim in America, Gillian in Germany, Rachelle in the Philippines and William in Malta - have been affected, blessed and inspired by the ministry of Newday-Prince - and we are truly blessed.

In fact, we’ve also been encouraged by the many messages received from various folks from diverse backgrounds and places.

Each one of you are amazing!

Let me regress just a little, to share with you one of the first occasions when I was asked to reflect on some of the episodes in my life.

It was 1994, and I was in the basement in Bethel Community Church, Newport, South Wales - where an evening social event was taking place.

I can recall the moment, when without notice, Paul Dando asked me to share my story with the folks there.

After communicating the events of my life, I was astonished when a man in his mid-sixties came face to face with me to convey his following remark:-

“Well, that was great David, but you forgot to tell us that you’re blind!”

Obviously; I was thankful for his observation, but I quietly thought - okay, but I can’t remember everything, eh?

Smiles!

Today; time has moved on, and so has the Newday-Prince story.

It’s now been four years since we launched our story on the Internet, giving it the name “Newday-Prince.”

Day after day; sharing our Story, Reflections, Songs, Quotes, Bible Verses, Questions - Answers and much more, has been simply exciting.

Reaching out to folks in 153 countries is mind-blowing in itself - but to think it’s all been accomplished with the help of some speech software and a lap-top in a room in our home - that’s brill!

As one American friend said, “The Internet is a wonderful place to share the message of salvation with the world. It’s kind of like being missionaries, without ever having to leave the country!”

Today; here and now, we continue to reach out for Christ who has so wonderfully reached out for us.

And we are ever blessed by your faithful prayers, love and support.

Thank you, everyone.

We appreciate you.

July 2009.

We thought now would be an excellent time to share our E-News because we’ve had lots of exciting things happening here during the last few weeks in the life of Newday-Prince International.

In fact, this is how it is these days, every moment of every day.

We serve a great God.

Awesome!

Internet.

It is estimated that one in one thousand Internet searchers is looking for information about God.

It’s on this basis that we continue to be extremely excited about the great potential of the Internet, not only to share our story & songs twenty four hours a day - but to give an insight of all we believe.

One of the Newday-Prince pages, which is visited on a regular basis, is the Accepting Jesus - Life Line page.

Whether folks are searching for God in this instance, simply browsing, or have prayed the Lifeline Prayer, we don’t know - but one thing is certain, we are encouraged.

Indeed, the interest shown in the Newday-Prince ministry has increased somewhat, so much so, we’re now getting regular prayer requests and enquiries.

This August we’ve been sharing the Newday-Prince story through our web pages for exactly four years!

Church.

Over the last few weeks, we feel that our relationship with the folks in Hemsworth Christian Fellowship has also grown stronger.

We certainly feel at home here, and have become more involved.

Cell-group.

We are particularly enthused by our Cell-group. We meet once a week, mid-week, with an aim of communicating our lives with each other - imparting skills or knowledge to each other, and developing collectively in our relation of mutual understanding or trust with God and with each other.

Our Cell-group provides a safe-place, having a warm & friendly atmosphere; especially through smallness and informality - as you can imagine, we appreciate this.

We especially look forward to the times when we meet up for coffee, go out for a meal or just meet to touch base.

Facebook.

If you are a member of Facebook, you may like to visit a group called Hemsworth Christian Fellowship - Springs into Action.

This is the official Facebook group of Hemsworth Christian Fellowship, where if you feel led, you can join and support in prayer.

Don’t forget, you can also join the Newday-Prince group.

Please note - If you are blind or visually impaired, we have links to these Facebook Groups which are easy to navigate.

Up Coming Ministry.

We would value your prayers over the last weekend in July, as we’re sharing the Newday-Prince story in Selston, Nottinghamshire.

If you would like more details about this, please contact us by Email.

What God is Saying.

We are continuing to be blessed with the way God has been leading us, especially since we joined Hemsworth Christian Fellowship.

The vision and focus of the fellowship is very much in line with how we believe God is directing us. We are ever reminded of His Word where we read, “Open your eyes and look at the fields, they are ripe for harvest.”

The Global Picture.

In the last twelve months alone, much has been accomplished.

In what way and how? you may ask.

Well, during this time, I’ve been able to manage my own web pages.

Really?

A simple task, perhaps, for those who have clear vision, but for someone totally blind - not so simple!

Yet; my brother-in-law, Roger, set me up with Wordpress, and I haven’t stopped since.

Okay, I had already got my own blogs through blogger, and had been using Facebook for a little while, but having the opportunity to construct my own web pages was an exciting challenge.

You may recall that Newday-Prince had already been running for around three years, but although I was producing the content, the actual management of the site was left in the hands of Roger.

And; although I appreciated Roger’s help;, I was eager to have a greater role in the websites creation and progress.

So, after changing host providers, we were able to finally get running.

Whoopee!

It didn’t all fall into place at once though, in fact I’m still learning, finding out more of how to manage my own web pages.

But hey, I’m quite pleased with what I’ve accomplished, and who wouldn’t be, eh?

More importantly, I’m overwhelmed with the response to Newday-Prince, and although not too many folks seem to leave comments to my blogs, I’m encouraged with the gentle flow of Emails to my in-box.

Today marks almost four years since the Newday-Prince web pages were first launched, and in that time we’ve received interest from folks in every continent.

It’s been a joy making new friends, a joy having an input into their lives.

These dear friends have changed our lives too, bringing something new & fresh into all of our experiences, having an influence upon how things appear to us - helping us to grasp the global picture.

Amazingly; outside of the British Isles, we now have personal contact with folks in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Kenya, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Namibia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Poland, Sweden, United States & Zimbabwe.

I guess today, you can truly say we’re an international ministry.

Surely you must agree with us, that God does extraordinary things through the lives of ordinary people. For this reason, we continue to give Him praise!

Worldwide Witness.

June 2009:

Hasn’t the last month whizzed by? But hey, they certainly do reckon that time vanishes, especially when you’re enjoying yourself! And that’s what Rachel and I are doing.

The weekends with Scott & Hilary Dalton from Toronto Rivers of Grace Ministries, and Steve Long, the senior pastor from Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship, were a real blessing to everyone who attended Hemsworth Christian Fellowship.

One of the highlights was when a young man who had injured his leg came forward for prayer. After being prayed for by Steve Long, folks saw with their own eyes the young mans leg grow back to it’s normal size. Praise God!

Apparently; friends in the fellowship went to visit the young man in the following week, and witnessed him playing football with his boys - something which he had been unable to do for years!

Unfortunately; Rachel and I were unable to attend everything over these weekends, but a full report was given to us, and we’re awaiting the release of the digital videodisc.

On to other things: We’ve begun to be part of a cell-group in the fellowship at Hemsworth, and are enjoying every moment of it. There’s normally only six of us, but we have a great time of chatting, sharing God’s Word, praying together and of course we mustn’t forget the tea & coffee!

While I’m sharing about the cell-group, you may like to visit this months reflection.

Here, I endeavour to take a fresh look as to the place where home-groups began - where home-groups spring into being, and how they can be relevant for us today.

Now, on to some health news: I’ve recently had a good report from the transplant clinic, all my blood results are looking grand. We have, however, discovered that I’m currently enduring a water infection, but this may be caused by having to self catheterise up to eight times a day!

Rachel too is having to now take medication for the rest of her life, as she’s got high cholesterol.

On prescribing Rachel with the medication, the doctor indicated to her that if she didn’t go straight onto the medication she could be on the verge of having a heart-attack or stroke!

So we’d value your prayers into this one please.

Anyhow, even with all these health issues; I’m particularly delighted that I’m now able to walk around normally, as just over six weeks ago I badly sprained my ankle, and this prevented me from venturing out too far.

Even walking over to the church in our village caused discomfort!

But, nothing is stopping us from going out now, and along with all our news, we’ve recently had an invitation to share the Newday-Prince Story &Mmusic with folks in a church in Selston, Nottinghamshire.

For this we would also really value your prayers, especially since the folks there have been waiting for eighteen months to arrange a convenient date .

If you would like more details about this event, please Email us.

Anyway, that’s all from us this month.

Thanks once again for your prayer support.

Just knowing that you are praying for us is a great encouragement.

Thank you.

Diversity.

In recent times; the fellowship where Rachel and I belong, began some new “cell-groups.”

I’m use to calling them “home-groups” or “house-groups.”

Some may know them as “care-groups,” “connect-groups,” “life-groups” or simply “small-groups.”

Whatever the name of the group, this inspired me to have a fresh look as to the place where home-groups began - where home-groups spring into being, and how they can be relevant for us today.

Anyway; in the first century, the disciples often got together in each others homes.

“Every day in the Temple and in people’s homes they continued teaching the people and telling the Good News-that Jesus is the Christ.”

For the reason that it was usual in that culture to come together in small groups, it was only normal for the disciples to assemble in the same way.

Today; many folks from a diversity of backgrounds, gather at individual homes for the aim of communicating their lives with each other - imparting skills or knowledge to each other, and developing collectively in their relation of mutual understanding or trust with God and with each other.

Home groups provide a safe-place, having or fostering a warm & friendly atmosphere; especially through smallness and informality.

In addition; I’ve personally discovered that the atmosphere is often enhanced with a cuppa tea or coffee and one of those delightful home-baked cakes - delicious!

Through Bible study, worship & prayer, this can be the context and environment where Christians can get to know, practice, train & teach their talents & abilities.

It’s in such settings that folks can often become fully aware of others needs and act in a practical & sensitive way - to help resolve things.

Some groups have been known to home-in on the importance of social-concern within the life of the individual, as well as the wider community.

Furthermore; some churches have found that one of the most important reasons for home groups is for them to operate as an evangelistic outreach..

“Reaching out for Christ, who has so wonderfully reached out for us!”

One of the best ways I’ve seen this accomplish much, is by putting on events such as a bar-be-cue.

Folks have even used the “Alpha” course as an evangelistic tool within the home-group environment.

As the home-group grows, many folks have seen friends who have never been to church, including family members and work-mates come to Christ. Amazing!

We are reminded from times back yonder, that the believers met together in the Temple every day. They ate together in their homes, happy to share their food with joyful hearts.

They praised God and were liked by all the people.

Every day the Lord added those who were being saved to the group of believers.

Praise God!

Bible words from Acts 2&5: New Century Version.

May 2009.

It’s been a while since we last updated our friends with our news, and in that time - such a lot has happened.

Rachel continues to make great progress after her micro-disectomy surgery - which she had in January.

Thank you for your prayers.

I too am doing really well, and only a few weeks ago celebrated 18 years since I became a recipient of a pancreas transplant.

To celebrate, Rachel and I went out and treated ourselves to a lovely meal at a restaurant in Doncaster. And; although we needed to go on a diet afterwards, we really enjoyed the celebration feast.

Hey folks, we will always be encouraged by what God is doing in our lives.

God is so good!

Anyway, let me just share with you about some other things that are happening with us:

We carry on supporting our local church in our village, as and when we can. We especially look forward to the “Luncheon, Handful of Songs” which we support every fortnight. This involves sharing in music and a short word or reflection.

Keeping up that link with the folks in our community has been important, and good for us.

But since our health has improved, we’ve been eager to extend our tent pegs as it were.

For this reason; in recent months, we’ve begun to support a fellowship just four miles up the road.

Hemsworth Christian Fellowship is a Pentecostal church, and is linked in to Partners In Harvest and also has connections with the Ground Level Network.

It seems that we’ve joined the fellowship at a transitional stage, as a younger couple have recently been inducted as new pastors.

We’ve been made very welcome, and really enjoy the Sunday morning fellowship which has a different format every time.

Yes; every week is totally different, there’s no chance for anyone to be in their comfort zone.

One week could find us sitting in the octagonal shaped auditorium in rows, celebrating together. The following week could find us in a cafe style setting - this we call “Cafe Amen.”

We’ve had meetings where the worship, teachings, notices and so on have been almost orchestrated via a power-point presentation.

One week saw us all go to various points in the octagonal shaped building to pray into various sections of the wider community.

Rachel and I were particularly inspired with confidence when we had a “faith meeting” followed by a “faith meal.” All of us were encouraged to bring something to share in both.

Rachel began by asking the pastor to read an article which she had found.

Written by Ruth Bell Graham, Morning Song set the theme for the day.

Then; a short while later, I was able to share from the keyboard the song New Every Morning.

The spontaneous participation from all was very encouraging, and something which I hope we’ll do again.

In the short time we’ve been there; we’ve also completed a mini introduction course, which was basically an insight into what the fellowship believes, it’s history, key values and so on.

What is more; we were really blessed this past week-end by the ministry of Bob & Eileen Kilpatrick - the Regional coordinators for Partners In Harvest - Europe.

Bob reminded us about the story of the man who had been born blind, but then, Jesus healed him.

He concentrated his thoughts around the verse in John 9 where the man said, “One thing I do know: I was blind, and now I see.”

Amazing!

In addition; we particularly enjoyed the new “FIRE” Cell groups which began this week - it was good fun.

Anyway, we’re looking forward to next week-end when we have a conference with Scott & Hilary Dalton from Toronto Rivers of Grace Ministries.

The “Living Free” Conference will include the following themes:
Fathers Healing Love,
Taking Forgiveness Deeper,
Establishing Godly Beliefs,
Healing For Rejection &
Healing Of Memories.

Then; in June we’ll have the senior pastor from Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship with us. Steve Long is coming to minister over a two day period.

These events, along with the monthly prayer “breakfasts,” other training courses and a day of prayer for Yorkshire are all exciting opportunities for the church.

Now, I know it all sounds fairly busy & packed together - but Rachel and I have learned over the years to pace ourselves.

Indeed, due to medical conditions we are unable to attend everything, but please pray for us, the folks we relate to, and the wider community - that God will be glorified in everything we do.

Anyhow, that’s all our news for now.

As for you; whatever you’re doing today and throughout the weeks ahead, we trust & pray that you’ll continue to be blessed & encouraged - and hopefully you’ll continue to be a blessing & encouragement to others.

In Jesus name,

David & Rachel Prince.
