The Perfect Gift:

We read in The Message Bible, “We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all – all but the sin.”

The Contemporary English Version puts it this way, “Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because He was tempted in every way that we are. But He did not sin!”

For sure, Jesus was completely perfect. He was without defect or blemish, blazing with holiness, guiltless, and totally clean.

Yet, for some reason, He took upon Himself our sin.

Why would He do that?

Because He loved us – and wanted us to come back to the place where God intended us to be.

In order for us to be right with God – our wrong was placed on Jesus who did nothing wrong!

But know this, as He died a selfless, obedient death – death on a cross, Jesus re-established the relationship between us and His Father.

How can we turn our backs on a gift like that!

A gift – born to die!

Friends, out of pure loving kindness, God put things right between us and Himself.

Because of His grace, His unmerited favour, God has saved us from the deadly effects of sin.

O yes, God knows that we are not perfect – but He still loves us.

He didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us.

Sure-enough, it cost God a “great deal” to get us out of the mess we’re in and restore us to where He always wanted us to be.

And He paid for this with the blood of His only son.

What a gift!

The “once for all” sacrifice of Jesus!

The unblemished Lamb of God – who took upon Himself our guilt, our sin, our shame.

God then raised Him from the dead – and highly exalted Him!

It’s because of what God has done for us, we can have faith in Him.

Today – we can experience freedom and forgiveness.

We can look forward to the future. Our best days are ahead!

And yes, our eternal spiritual well-being is still God’s greatest concern.

By believing in Him, you and I or anyone can have a whole and everlasting life.

So, lets turn our backs on the old godless, indulgent life – and take on a new God-filled, God-honouring life.

Let’s be thankful for the God-given things.

Thank God for Jesus – The Perfect Gift!

Amen?

Amen!
