Real Religion:

“I’ll tell you what it really means to worship the Lord.

“Remove the chains of prisoners who are chained unjustly. Free those who are abused! Share your food with everyone who is hungry; share your home with the poor and homeless. Give clothes to those in need; Don’t turn away your relatives.”

“Then your light will shine like the dawning sun, and you will quickly be healed.”

What a pre-requisite!

What a promise!

As we begin with Jesus and comprehend all that He has done for us, we become fully aware of God’s invitation.

Yes, God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.

The obedience of the Son provides the way to a true love relationship with us and God.

Amazing!

Having first hand knowledge of God depends on us accepting this relationship of love.

To make it possible for us to have this love relationship, God did all that He needed to do.

Now it’s down to us – to live up to His plan of action!

And so; as our relationship grows; let’s pray that our hearts will act positively – so that His love may be seen in all that we do.

And; as we realise that everything we do, is known by our Heavenly Father – who has given every natural ability and complete gift – including His own Son to rescue everyone of us from our sins – then we will grasp a little of the passion & sincerity outlined by the Biblical writers.

One of the New Testament writers reminds us about the true way to worship God.

James wrote, “Anyone who sets himself up as “religious” by talking a good game is self-deceived. This kind of religion is hot air and only hot air. Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world.”

Yet; one may pose a question, & ask: What does it mean to be religious? Isn’t it rigorous praying & fasting, living by time-honoured rules and regulations, observing customs – practices and so on?

Hum!

Surely, it’s all about knowing the Father’s heart and being obedient to His plan of action!

His plan wasn’t written out with ink on paper, with pages and pages of legal footnotes, killing our spirit.

It’s written with Spirit on spirit, His life on our lives.

Only then – as we make sense of this reality – will our lives begin to glow in the darkness, and our shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight!

Then, as we draw close to our Heavenly Father, and listen to His heart, we will gain a growing desire & impulse – that colours our thoughts, and choreographs what we do.
